Protection and gender equality

Every child should have a place in a family and grow up with love, respect and security. SOS Children’s Villages aims to guarantee the protection, well-being and development of all children, and defend their rights. It is committed to helping them become independent, responsible and active citizens within their communities. It works to improve national child and family protection systems and to ensure that governments meet their obligations to respect children’s rights.

Women and girls are particularly vulnerable. SOS Children’s Villages is committed through its programmes to equal rights for girls and women throughout the world: education for all, combating all forms of gender-based violence, guaranteeing financial independence for female guardians, family planning, etc.
