In light of a lot of positive response to our previous solidarity challenges leading us up to Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Annapurna Sanctuary in Nepal and Weismann’s Peak in Uganda, we wanted to hike up to Mount Toubkal in Morocco in spring 2020. It’s unfortunate that the corona pandemic has halted our plans! Only now can we renew our invitation to participate in this adventure, which will take place in spring 2024. The 50th anniversary of our NGO is coming up, making this a special birthday edition!
From Monday April 8th to Saturday 13th, 2024, we will travel to Morocco and confront Mount Toubkal at 4,167 meters! A 3-day trek will lead us through the wilderness of the famous Atlas Mountains, located south of Marrakesh. It explores some of the most stunning places in the area. The duration of the trip will be 6 days (including flights, hiking, visiting a project as well as the old city centre). As the hike will take 3 days and one will have to walk for several hours every day covering considerable height differences, participants should be in good shape before leaving.
In addition to the trip cost, every participant is kindly asked to fundraise €1,500 to support a project for children and their families run by the local team of SOS Children’s Villages in Morocco.
Why should you consider it?
This will be an unforgettable personal experience, and at the same time you will have helped make a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
Since 2013, through our solidarity challenges, we have been able to finance:
- in Arusha, Tanzania: the equipment of the school and laboratory of the SOS school for 455 students, the equipment and financing of the operating costs of the SOS kindergarten for 95 children, the operating costs of 2 youth centres for 47 young people
- in Kavre and Jorpati in Nepal: IT and medical equipment for 189 children, equipment (tables, chairs, PCs, books, etc.) of a public school in Bhimtar for 700 students
- in Entebbe, Uganda: the installation of solar panels in the SOS children’s village for 300 children
THANK YOU!
Get inspired!
