Strengthening the resilience of the most vulnerable populations

The impoverishment of families, aggravated by drought, puts women and children at greater risk of abuse. Despite the region’s varied natural and mineral resources, over 90% of rural households live below the poverty line.

After financing the installation of solar panels in 2020 as part of the development of an eco-village within the SOS Children’s Village in Vontovorona, our NGO has been involved from October 2021 to April 2022 in an emergency aid project, run by its sister organisation SOS Villages d’Enfants Madagascar (which has been present in the country since 1989).This project has been set up in response to the drought and famine in the south of the country. Following our intervention in Madagascar in an emergency aid project, we are now involved in a new project, called Fagnavotse*, which focuses on strengthening the resilience of the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children. It focuses on access to education and access to water. It is being rolled out in the Androy region.
