Our work
In Aït Ourir, the first SOS Children’s Villages to open in Morocco in 1985, the project aims to improve hygiene conditions and facilities related to sports activities.
The project includes renovating the showers in the 14 family houses and constructing sports changing rooms. The existing sanitary facilities now require renovation to ensure hygiene conditions that meet the needs of the children. The creation of suitable changing rooms will also provide children and young people with appropriate spaces before and after sports activities, while promoting their privacy, dignity and well-being.
The SOS Children’s Villages in Aït Ourir currently welcomes 106 children aged 3 to 14, as well as 98 young people, including 11 living in foster families. The project will also benefit children living in the surrounding area.
Planned activities
- Renovation of the showers in the 14 family houses
- Construction of sports changing rooms adapted to the needs of children and young people
- Improvement of spaces allowing children to practise sports in better conditions
Expected results
Children and young people will have access to renovated sanitary facilities and suitable spaces to change before and after sports activities. These improvements will contribute to sustainably improving their hygiene conditions, well-being, privacy and dignity, while encouraging regular participation in sports activities in good conditions.
The facilities created will become part of the permanent infrastructure of the Village and will be maintained by the local teams.
