The 18th Sudstroum escher kulturlaf takes place on 7 September 2024. For the third year in a row, SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde is humanitarian partner of the event.
At 6 p.m. on September 7, runners of the Sudstroum escher kulturlaf will cross the starting line. They will be off for a 10km, 10-mile or 21km route through the town of Esch-sur-Alzette and the Belval campus. All along the way, musicians and bands will be cheering on the runners and entertaining the spectators, giving this sporting and cultural event its unique character.
For every participant in the race, €1 will be donated to our emergency reponse programme to help children and families affected by the war in Ukraine.

A renewed trust in our association
We would like to highlight the strong commitment of the organisers of the Escher Kulturlaf, which has led to a valuable collaboration for vulnerable children in Ukraine.
Pol Zimmermann (President of the association Escher kulturlaf) presenting a cheque to Anne Schweizer (Partnerships Manager at SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde) at the end of the race in September 2022.
Since the first year of this partnership, public support enabled us to raise €2,000 (in 2022) and 2.500€ (in 2023) for the children and families cared for by SOS Villages d’Enfant in Ukraine and in countries hosting refugees.
While the fighting continues, the needs of the population are still considerable. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the organisers of the event, who have once again shown their trust and commitment to us this year.
