The ING Night Marathon Luxembourg will take place on May 16th this year, and we are pleased to announce that SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde is its main humanitarian partner.
This 19th edition of the 42 km race is shaping up to be the biggest sporting event of the year in the Luxembourg capital. Let’s turn this fantastic event into a solidarity challenge by joining forces for vulnerable children!
Running to support the most vulnerable children and families in Ethiopia
In the Moyale district, located in the Borena region, our intervention aims to meet the essential needs of communities facing food insecurity, malnutrition, instability, and precarious living conditions.
Designed as a multi-year initiative, this project combines emergency assistance with longer-term support to help communities recover and build resilience. It places a strong emphasis on nutritional interventions targeting children under five, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and households affected by malnutrition.
At the same time, the project integrates sustainable solutions across key sectors such as agriculture, access to water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH), livelihoods, gender equality, protection, and peacebuilding.

A long-lasting partnership
Although the 2020 and 2021 editions of the race have been canceled due to the pandemic, we would like to highlight the strong commitment of the organisers of the ING Night Marathon, which has led to a valuable collaboration for vulnerable children around the world.

In 2022 and 2023, public mobilisation helped raise funds for Venezuelan migrant children in Colombia and for children from highly vulnerable communities in the Great South of Madagascar.
In 2024 and 2025, thanks to the support of the runners and organisers, we were able to raise more than €14,000 and €17,000 to support children and families facing malnutrition in southern Ethiopia.
We would like to thank the runners and Erich François, director of Step-by-Step SA, for his renewed trust in our NGO and his commitment to our cause.
