Volunteering mission at a street post !

Join SOS Village d’Enfants Monde at the 19th ING Night Marathon Luxembourg on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Luxembourg City and help support our work for children! By joining us, you will directly contribute to funding our emergency response in Ethiopia. Thanks to the racer and the commitent of our volunteer, we were able to raise 16.854,43 including €7,202 generously donated by the organizer.

As a street marshal, you will have the important task of monitoring the marathon route. This includes ensuring that barriers remain in place and that no unauthorized individuals enter the course. You will be supported by professional police officers and the fire brigade.

The marathon route is divided into sections, and all our volunteers will be assigned to the same area, working together as one team to ensure the smooth and safe progress of the race. You will be supported by a police officer, an ING Marathon representative, and a member of our team, so you will never be alone in your mission.

On the day of the marathon, all volunteers will meet their section supervisor at 4:30 PM for a final briefing and a chance to connect before the excitement begins. Before taking your position, you will receive your volunteer kit, including your badge, official T-shirt, and a small picnic. Wearing your T-shirt and badge proudly throughout your shift will identify you as an essential part of this major sporting event.

The passing of the lead car with the red flag marks the thrilling arrival of the first runners. From that moment on, you will be at the very heart of the action. You will experience the race up close, feeling the energy of the runners and the excitement of the crowd.

Beyond ensuring the safety of the course, you will also be there to guide spectators, assist anyone in difficulty, support tired runners with a smile, and share your positive energy throughout the route. Your presence makes a real difference, you help create a safe, supportive, and unforgettable atmosphere for everyone involved.

A vehicle with a green flag will follow the final runner, signaling the successful completion of the race in your section. After confirmation from your supervisor, you will be free to leave your post with the satisfaction of having contributed to an unforgettable event.

Our top tips for a successful evening :

You will be stationed at your post for several hours, so please remember to bring:
a chair, an umbrella, sunscreen, a book, etc

Don’t hesitate to bring friends along:
they can lend a hand, cheer on the runners, and enjoy this unforgettable experience with you!
