Recovery and resilience for
flood-affected communities in Nepal

CLIMATE ET ENVIRONMENT  |   NEPAL

In August 2026, severe floods struck Nepal’s Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts, affecting more than 1.6 million people. Damage to homes, schools and infrastructure deprived many families of their livelihoods and access to essential services. Children are particularly vulnerable to disrupted education, psychological distress and protection risks.

Our work

The project supports the recovery of flood-affected children and families by restoring access to education, supporting livelihood recovery and strengthening community preparedness for future disasters.

Planned activities

  • Establish temporary learning centres and support continuity of education.
  • Distribute school supplies to children in schools and child-friendly spaces.
  • Provide furniture and educational resources to damaged schools.
  • Support economic recovery and the restoration of family livelihoods.
  • Strengthen community preparedness and disaster risk reduction.

Expected results

  • Restored or sustained access to education for children affected by the floods.
  • Better-equipped schools able to resume educational activities.
  • Families supported in rebuilding their livelihoods.
  • Communities better prepared to anticipate and respond to future disasters.
