PACOPE<\/a> | BENIN<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The municipality of Abomey-Calavi, which is undergoing rapid demographic and urban growth, faces major challenges in terms of child protection. Rapid development, rural exodus, persistent poverty and the precariousness of households favour the emergence of high-risk situations for children, including child labour, dropping out of school, economic exploitation and sometimes even abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In several neighbourhoods, particularly in peri-urban and rural areas, it is not uncommon to see children involved in economic activities from an early age: street vending, domestic work, odd jobs in markets or workshops, sometimes even in conditions that are dangerous or contrary to their fundamental rights. This phenomenon is often linked to structural factors such as insufficient family income, parental illiteracy and lack of easy access to quality education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The challenges remain numerous: lack of human and financial resources, sometimes inadequate coordination between players, weak involvement of certain local communities, and the persistence of social norms that tolerate certain forms of child labour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Against this backdrop, it is essential to step up prevention, protection and advocacy initiatives, involving all the players – local authorities, civil society, community leaders, schools and families – to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for every child in Abomey-Calavi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n PERIOD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 2022 \u2013 <\/strong><\/strong>2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n BENEFICIARIES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 150 families in 10 neighbourhoods of Abomey-Calavi<\/p>\n\n\n\n OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n To enable parents to parent fully and autonomously in a community that supports respect for children’s rights.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n COMMUNITY STRUCTURES INVOLVED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Community structures made up of children, adolescents and adults promote collective awareness of child protection and well-being and mobilise resources to support vulnerable children and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They regularly organise awareness-raising activities for adults and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Benin, there are<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n All donations to SOS Villages d\u2019Enfants Monde are\u00a0tax deductible<\/strong>\u00a0within the limits set by article 109, paragraph 1, n\u00b03 of the income tax law.<\/p>\n ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/sosve.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Des-femmes-dans-une-rue-dAbomey-Calavi-c-SOS-Villages-dEnfants-Monde-1024x769.jpg\")
