For the fourth consecutive year, SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde<\/em> will be a humanitarian partner of the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg<\/em>. The 18th edition will be launched on May 31st, 2025 at 7pm at LuxExpo The Box. And as always, the great sporting effort will be accompanied by a formidable solidarity challenge dedicated in 2025, as in 2024, to very vulnerable children from southern Ethiopia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Each season, thousands of runners<\/strong> of all ages and backgrounds are expected to take part in the famous Marathon in Luxembourg<\/strong> and transform their formidable sporting challenge into generous solidarity. Erich Fran\u00e7ois<\/strong>, the founder and head of Step-by-Step SA, has been committed to linking the multicultural event with significant humanitarian causes since its creation in 2006. Since 2020, a partnership has been established with the Luxembourg NGO SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde<\/em><\/strong>, whose international projects are dedicated to the most vulnerable children on the planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the wake of the 2024 edition of the marathon that raised the impressive sum of \u20ac 6,000<\/strong> for a project focused on health and nutrition of pastoral communities in southern Ethiopia, the 2025 race will also be dedicated to this project, which has several components. During a friendly meeting last November at the premises of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde<\/em>, its Director, Sophie Glesener, thanked Erich Fran\u00e7ois and all his team for their renewed trust and expressed again her happiness to continue this solid partnership, launched five years ago<\/strong>: “SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde is pleased to see this beautiful action carried on hand in hand with the team of the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg<\/em> “. And to recall the objective in 2025: “Support our essential work in southern Ethiopia to sustainably improve the health and nutrition of particularly vulnerable children and strengthen the resilience of communities<\/em>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOS Villages d\u2019Enfants Monde<\/em><\/strong> mobilizes for children in southern Ethiopia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The donations generated in the context of the 2025 marathon are intended for children accompanied by SOS Children\u2019s Villages<\/em> in Ethiopia and its local partner in the region of Oromia in the south of the country<\/strong>. Started in the summer of 2023, a project focused on health and nutrition<\/strong> is continuing. Currently, it aims to strengthen food security<\/strong>, consolidate livelihoods and diversify the sources of income for 150 households<\/strong> that have suffered in recent years due to extreme drought. The introduction of nutritious crops (moringa trees\/vegetables), beekeeping and goat farming are among the measures undertaken in this project which focuses on good nutrition<\/strong> and sustainable agriculture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
